Former Australian Captain, Ricky Ponting, has been fined for his latest onfield outburst. This time however for a measly $250. Ponting threw his bat a few metres in front of him in frustration as he headed back to the stands after a run-out for 95. He was run out by former Australian team mate, Mr. Cricket (Michael Hussey). Cricket Australia decided to go all out and call a disciplinary hearing on top of this hefty penalty. Really, over this?
“Given the nature of the incident CA objected to the prescribed penalty of an official reprimand for a first time offender of the Code of Behaviour and requested the charge be heard in front of a CA Code of Behaviour Commissioner,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
“The hearing occurred in Perth this afternoon in front of Commissioner Rob O’Connor. Ponting pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $250.”
